The Federal Government (FG), through the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi), has donated four 50-seater hybrid buses to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA). FCT Minister Nyesom Wike received the handover on Thursday in Abuja.
Presenting the vehicles, PCNGi Chief Executive Officer and Program Director Michael Oluwagbemi said the donation reflects President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s drive to give Nigerians cheaper, safer, and more reliable transport.
Oluwagbemi praised Minister Wike for championing the CNG initiative. He said the buses will serve as “foundation assets” for the new city bus terminals.
“The FCT has invested in roads and modern terminals under the Honourable Minister. We believe it should be a key beneficiary of this programme,” he stated.
He expressed hope that within two to three years, Abuja residents, even car owners, will prefer public buses, just like in developed nations.
FCTA Promises Effective Use
Receiving the keys, FCT Transport Secretary Chinedu Elechi thanked President Tinubu. He said the buses will boost the minister’s ongoing investments in transport infrastructure.
