Former Senator representing Zamfara Central, Kabiru Marafa, has announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing the ruling party of betrayal and deepening disunity.
In a video message to his supporters, Marafa said the decision followed days of consultation with political associates and community leaders.
He alleged that the APC leadership had failed its members, particularly in Zamfara State, where he said internal wrangling had crippled the party.

“The APC has betrayed and cheated us in Zamfara State and in Nigeria. The betrayal here is at its highest level,” Marafa declared in Hausa.
He faulted the party leadership for failing to reconcile factions in the state since Governor Mai Mala Buni took charge of its affairs.
“Since Bala Buni took over from former governor Matawalle, not a single meeting has been held. The party has been split into two camps: one loyal to Buni and the other to Matawalle. This has gone on for over two years and six months despite repeated calls for reconciliation,” he said.
Marafa maintained that the unresolved crisis had forced him to part ways with the APC and chart a new course in his political career.
