The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has assured Nigerians that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Anambra State governor Peter Obi, and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi will remain united in their commitment to transform the country, regardless of who eventually emerges as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.
The party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Jackie Wayas, gave the assurance in an interview in Abuja on Monday.
Wayas explained that the ADC was still considering whether to zone its presidential ticket or allow an open contest, adding that the final decision would be made through internal consultations and guidelines set by the National Executive Committee (NEC) ahead of the national convention.

“There is a lot of pressure to zone and, at the same time, not to zone the presidential ticket. There can only be one presidential candidate on the ballot come 2027 from the ADC, and the final decision on zonal rotation or open competition will be based on internal party negotiation and NEC guidelines,” she said.
She stressed that the party’s priority was to rescue Nigeria from its current challenges and place national interest above individual ambitions.
According to her, the alliance between Atiku, Obi, and Amaechi goes beyond personal aspirations and is anchored on their shared determination to rebuild the country.
“The pact to save and transform Nigeria is what has brought the leaders you mentioned together, and it will keep them together,” she said.
