Akpabio Says Anxiety Over 2027 Tickets Is Causing High Blood Pressure Among Some Senators

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has said that some senators are already becoming anxious over their chances of securing return tickets to the National Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Akpabio made the remark on Wednesday during the inauguration of the National Campaign Council for the forthcoming Ekiti State governorship election.

The Senate President noted that some lawmakers were worried about the yet-to-be-released final list of senatorial candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 elections.

According to him, the uncertainty surrounding future political ambitions has heightened tension among some politicians.

“Some senators are having high blood pressure over the yet-to-be-released final list of APC senatorial candidates for the 2027 elections,” he said.

Advice to Lawmakers and Governors

Akpabio advised politicians experiencing anxiety to take care of their health and remain calm while awaiting decisions on party nominations.

“For my people who are having hypertension, try and hold that hypertension, and then ensure that you have carried all the entire National Assembly along,” he stated.

He also urged governors to work closely with their state assemblies, while acknowledging their role in determining political alignments and preferences within their states.

“And for the governors, the state assemblies are going to be working with you. You have absolute right to choose anybody you want,” Akpabio added.
