President Bola Tinubu has postponed his planned trips to Johannesburg, South Africa, and Luanda, Angola, as he awaits security briefings on the recent abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State and the attack on worshippers at Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State.
In response to a request from the Kwara State Governor, President Tinubu directed the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to Eruku and the broader Ekiti Local Government Area.
The police were specifically instructed to pursue the bandits responsible for the attack on church worshippers.

Directive on Schoolgirls’ Rescue
President Tinubu reiterated his instruction to security agencies to exhaust all efforts to rescue the 25 schoolgirls abducted in Kebbi State and ensure their safe return.
“As the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, I am deeply saddened by the deaths of our soldiers on active duty. May God comfort the families of Brigadier General Musa Uba and other fallen heroes. I am also distressed that terrorists have disrupted the education of innocent schoolgirls. Security agencies have been directed to act swiftly to bring the girls back safely,” the President stated in a prior response to the attacks.
Presidential Spokesman Confirms Awaited Reports
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga confirmed that the President is awaiting updates from Vice President Shettima and security agencies before taking further action, underlining that the safety of citizens remains a top priority.
President Tinubu’s decision highlights the government’s prioritisation of security amid a rising wave of attacks on schools and places of worship across the country.
