The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for the immediate removal of the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, over allegations linking him to the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), an agency the Federal Government says does not exist.
In a statement issued on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the opposition party urged President Bola Tinubu to suspend Gbajabiamila and establish an independent panel to investigate the allegations surrounding the purported agency.
The party said the claims made by Prince Mathew Adeniyi Adeyemi, who identifies himself as the Director-General of the PFIPC, raise serious questions about transparency, accountability and the integrity of the Tinubu administration.
Questions Over Budget Allocations, Bank Accounts
The NDC cited Adeyemi’s claims that the PFIPC received allocations in the 2026 budget despite not being officially recognised by the government.
It also referred to his allegation that the agency opened a domiciliary account, a pound sterling account and a Treasury Single Account with the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The party questioned how an agency the Presidency has disowned could have met the documentation requirements for opening such accounts and asked whether officials of the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation processed forged documents.
It said Nigerians deserved a clear explanation on how a non-existent agency allegedly operated within the country’s financial system.
Concerns Over Staffing Approvals
The opposition party also raised concerns over claims that the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation approved 314 staff positions for the alleged agency.
It questioned how such approvals could have been granted without the knowledge of the Presidency or the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The NDC said the development, if proven, would expose serious lapses in government oversight and administrative processes.
Allegations Against Gbajabiamila
The party further referred to Adeyemi’s allegation that Gbajabiamila demanded 48 per cent of the agency’s take-off grant, a claim it said warrants an independent investigation.
It also cited Adeyemi’s allegation that he paid N400 million through intermediaries to secure his appointment, with an outstanding balance of N200 million.
According to the NDC, the allegations suggest possible abuse of public office and the sale of government appointments, adding that they should be thoroughly investigated.
Probe Into Tanimola’s Death, Alleged Threats
The NDC also called for investigations into the death of Babatunde Tanimola, identified as an intermediary between Adeyemi and the Chief of Staff.
It further urged security agencies to investigate Adeyemi’s claims that there had been multiple attempts on his life.
The party called for witness protection for Adeyemi and urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Nigeria Police Force to investigate all aspects of the allegations.
NDC’s Demands
The party insisted that Gbajabiamila should step aside to allow for what it described as a transparent and unbiased investigation.
It also urged President Tinubu to constitute an independent investigative panel to examine the operations of the alleged PFIPC, including its purported budget allocations, bank accounts, staffing approvals and financial transactions.
The NDC maintained that anyone found culpable, regardless of status, should face prosecution.
Presidency Dismisses Claims
The Presidency has, however, rejected Adeyemi’s claims, maintaining that the PFIPC does not exist.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said investigations showed that Adeyemi allegedly forged a presidential appointment letter bearing Gbajabiamila’s signature, impersonated government officials and operated a fictitious agency.
The Presidency also said Gbajabiamila petitioned security agencies in October 2025 over the alleged forgery and impersonation, leading to criminal charges against Adeyemi and two others.
It added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission had earlier raised concerns over the activities of the purported agency and insisted that no such organisation exists under the Tinubu administration.
Adeyemi, however, has maintained that his appointment, the agency and its activities are genuine.
Federation Processed Forged Documents.
The NDC also expressed concern over claims that the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation approved 314 staff positions for the agency, asking how such approvals could have been granted without the knowledge of the Presidency or the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The party further referred to allegations by Adeyemi that Gbajabiamila demanded 48 per cent of the agency’s take-off grant, an allegation it said the Chief of Staff should answer through an independent investigation.
It also cited Adeyemi’s claim that he paid N400 million through intermediaries to secure his appointment, with an outstanding balance of N200 million, describing the allegations as indicative of possible abuse of public office.
The NDC said the allegations point to what it described as institutionalised corruption and called for a thorough investigation into the operations of the alleged agency, its finances and the process through which it allegedly functioned.
The party also demanded investigations into the death of Babatunde Tanimola, identified as an intermediary between Adeyemi and the Chief of Staff, as well as reported attempts on Adeyemi’s life.
It urged the Federal Government to provide witness protection for Adeyemi and called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Nigeria Police Force to investigate the matter.
According to the party, Gbajabiamila should step aside while investigations are conducted to avoid any conflict of interest.
