Kwankwaso officially joins ADC After Resigning from NNPP

The former governor of Kano State and the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has officially joined African Democratic Congress (ADC) after resigning from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

Kwankwaso registered as a member and received his party card on Monday at Gidan Kwankwasiyya, Miller Road, Bompai, Kano after announcing his resignation in a statement on Monday, saying the decision takes immediate effect.

The event drew prominent political figures, including Aminu Tambuwal, Rotimi Amaechi, Peter Obi, David Mark, Dino Melaye, and John Odigie-Oyegun.

The former Kano State governor said his exit followed a reassessment of the country’s political direction, noting that the current landscape requires “strategic realignment”.

He said he would be identifying with another political platform that offers a better opportunity to effect change in the country.

Kwankwaso described his decision as difficult, recalling his role as a longstanding member of the party and its national leader.

Appreciation to Party Leadership

He expressed gratitude to the leadership of the NNPP, particularly the national chairman, Ajuji Ahmed, and members of the National Working Committee for their support during his time in the party.

The former minister also thanked the party’s Board of Trustees, National Executive Committee and members across all levels for their commitment.

Signals Next Political Move

Despite his resignation, Kwankwaso said he would continue to work with political stakeholders towards building a more prosperous Nigeria.

He, however, did not disclose the political platform he intends to join.

But Reports indicate he has been in talks with other political actors regarding potential alignments, including discussions surrounding the ADC
