Kwankwaso registered as a member of ADC and received his party card on Monday at Gidan Kwankwasiyya, Miller Road, Bompai, Kano. The ex-Kano governor, who announced his resignation in a statement on Sunday, said the decision takes immediate effect.
The event drew prominent political figures, including former Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal; ex-minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi; former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi; former Senate President David Mark; former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye; and former APC national chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun.
Kwankwaso said his exit followed a reassessment of the country’s political direction, noting that the current landscape requires “strategic realignment”.
He said he would be identifying with another political platform that offers a better opportunity to effect change in the country.
The leader of the Kwankwassiya movement described his decision as difficult, recalling his role as a longstanding member of the party and its national leader.
Appreciation to Party Leadership
He expressed gratitude to the leadership of the NNPP, particularly the national chairman, Ajuji Ahmed, and members of the National Working Committee, for their support during his time in the party.
The former minister also thanked the party’s Board of Trustees, National Executive Committee and members across all levels for their commitment.
