The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has called on its customers in Band A and Band B to apply for free prepaid meters under the Meter Acquisition Fund (MAF) Tranche B.
In a statement, the electricity DisCo advised customers to apply on or before 30th November 2025, clarifying that only Bands A and B customers are eligible for the offer.
It said the current offer is the second tranche of the Presidential Metering Initiative (MAF Tranche B), aimed at closing the nationwide metering gap.

How to Apply
The DisCo urged new customers to visit webportal.eked.com/#/newConnection
It directed existing customers to migrate from postpaid to prepaid or replace their damaged or obsolete meters. “Visit the webportal.ekedc.com and register (for first-time users) or log in to your existing web portal account.”

While the application closes on November 30, 2025, the DisCo disclosed that meter installation will begin on November 6, 2025, and last till December 31st, 2025.
Pinnacle Daily reports that this followed a recent order issued by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) for the operationalization of the Meter Acquisition Fund. The order, which became effective on October 6, 2025, indicated that N28 billion has been approved by the Commission to fund meter rollout under the Tranche B MAF scheme.
It stressed that the funds will be allocated in proportion to the respective contributions of the DisCos and are intended to meter of all outstanding unmetered Band A and customers, while accelerating the closure of the metering gap for customers under Band B.
