Notorious bandit leader Bello Turji has accused two former northern governors of fueling insecurity in the region, particularly in Zamfara and Sokoto states.
In a video that went viral on Sunday, Turji claimed that past political leadership laid the foundation for the ongoing violence. He said he had attended peace meetings with the Zamfara State government during the tenure of a former governor but denied receiving N30 million or any material inducement to participate.

Attempts to reach the former governors for comment were unsuccessful. However, sources close to them dismissed Turji’s claims, describing them as “lies by a terrorist seeking to appear as a victim.”
Turji further alleged that previous administrations armed vigilante groups, known as ‘Yan Banga,’ which he claimed disproportionately targeted Fulani communities, escalating violence.

He specifically named the former governors of Sokoto and Zamfara states, calling for their arrest and investigation over their alleged roles in the crisis.
“We openly say that former governors of Zamfara and Sokoto states are responsible for the calamities that befell these states,” Turji claimed.
