As Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukuma Soludo, continued his Re-election campaign , supporters in Orumba North and South Local Government Areas have donated a total of ₦225 million for his campaign

They made the donation on Sunday, when Soludo took his re-election campaign to Ajalli in Orumba North and Umunze in Orumba South Local Government Areas.

While Orumba North contributed ₦75 million, Orumba South pledged N150 million.

During his campaign, Governor Soludo described the zone as his home, pledging continued development if re-elected.

The visit was part of his statewide campaign tour ahead of the November 8 governorship election.

Addressing large crowds in both communities, the governor outlined his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, and education since assuming office, while unveiling plans for the next four years.

“This visit is a homecoming for me,” Soludo declared. “I am deeply grateful for the overwhelming support you gave me four years ago. I urge you to repeat that show of love and confidence in this coming election.”

Campaign as a “Divine Project”

The governor, who described his campaign as a “divine project and a mass movement,” urged the electorate to vote wisely and avoid invalid ballots.

“Be careful when you vote to avoid invalid votes,” he said, adding that the massive grassroots participation and financial contributions from communities across the state were unprecedented in Anambra politics.

Soludo reiterated his confidence in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), describing it as the only political party rooted in the people’s interest.
“Everyone is saying we are the consensus candidate in Anambra.

“But to make it real, you must get your Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ready. Soludo will win with your vote. Come out and vote because our commitment to improving lives remains unwavering,” he said.

Speaking further, Soludo highlighted several ongoing projects in Orumba, including road construction, school rehabilitation, and hospital upgrades.

“In Orumba, we have initiated multiple projects aimed at enhancing our roads, schools, and hospitals and we are not stopping there,” he said.

The governor assured residents that his administration would sustain its development drive across the 21 local government areas of the state.

“In the next four years after November 8, we will accelerate development efforts across Anambra. We are building a society where everyone has the opportunity to excel,” he stated.

APGA Leaders Reaffirm Support

Several political leaders and stakeholders who spoke at the rally expressed confidence in Soludo’s leadership.

Among them were former Deputy Governor Chief Emeka Sibudu; Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Foster Ihejiofor; Chief of Staff, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi; member representing Orumba North and South Federal Constituency, Princess Chinwe Nnabuife; Lady Ifeoma Ekwueme, wife of former Vice President Alex Ekwueme; Mrs. Amaka Iruegbu; and Chief Ben Nwankwo.

They maintained that APGA remains the only viable political structure in the 18 wards and 15 communities of Orumba South, adding that the party is fully prepared to secure victory at the polls.

INEC Assures Readiness

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed its readiness for the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State, with voting to take place in 5,718 out of 5,720 polling units across the state.

The National Commissioner supervising Anambra and Chairman of INEC’s Tenders Board Committee, Dr. Kenneth Ikeagu, made this known during a readiness assessment visit to the state.

According to him, the two excluded polling units have no registered voters. He disclosed that the commission has achieved 99 per cent operational preparedness, adding that about 24,000 ad-hoc staff will be deployed across the state.

“We have met with critical stakeholders and monitored the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). We are satisfied with the level of preparedness,” Ikeagu said.

He explained that elections will hold in all polling units in Ihiala Local Government Area, noting that security agencies have recovered and stabilised previously threatened zones.

“For areas where challenges persist, contingency arrangements will be made, including using local government collation centres as done in previous bye-elections,” he said.

Ikeagu also disclosed that INEC had signed agreements with transport unions for the timely movement of election materials, with 50 per cent of payment made before deployment and the balance after the exercise.

“Boats have also been provided for riverine communities. Accreditation will begin at 8:30 a.m., and our officials are expected to arrive by 7:00 a.m.,” he added.

He further commended the people of Anambra for their peaceful conduct ahead of the polls, urging continued cooperation with security agencies to ensure a credible election.

The INEC commissioner also confirmed that the mock accreditation exercise conducted earlier was successful, with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) performing optimally.

“The BVAS worked perfectly, taking less than a minute to accredit each voter. This gives us confidence for the main election,” he said.

He advised voters to collect their PVCs before election day, stressing that collection by proxy would not be allowed.

“The election is a shared responsibility. Every voter must take it seriously by collecting his PVC,” Ikeagu stated.
