Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has described himself as the “goalkeeper” appointed by God to safeguard the state from those seeking to take over its leadership.
Adeleke, who is seeking another term in office ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election, made the remarks in a statement posted on his verified X account on Monday.
According to the governor, his confidence is rooted in what he described as divine backing and the achievements recorded by his administration since assuming office.
“Today, by the grace of God and the support of the good people of Osun, I have been divinely affirmed as the goalkeeper to man the goalpost of Osun State Government against any potential intruder,” he said.
Highlights Record in Office
Adeleke pointed to what he called significant progress in infrastructure, workers’ welfare, education, healthcare and grassroots development, saying his administration’s performance would speak for itself during the election campaign.
He said he plans to tour communities across the state in the build-up to the poll to present his administration’s scorecard and unveil an updated Five-Point Agenda.

“As we prepare for the August 15 election, I am ready to visit every town and village to present our achievements and unveil an updated Five Point Agenda for a greater Osun,” he said.
Calls for Issue-Based Campaigns
The governor also urged political opponents to focus on issues rather than personal attacks, arguing that voters should make their choice based on facts and performance.
“The people of Osun should decide based on facts, performance and truth,” he said.
Also expressing confidence about the outcome of the election, Adeleke added: “With God on our side and the people behind us, victory is assured. Imole continuity is imminent.”
Election Background
Adeleke was elected governor in 2022 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after defeating then-incumbent governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress.
He is contesting the August 15 governorship election under the Accord Party platform.
