The Nigeria Police Force has disbursed over ₦2.4 billion in life assurance benefits to families and next of kin of deceased officers.
Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, presented cheques to 1,075 beneficiaries, covering group life assurance schemes from 2018 to 2026, as well as the IGP Family Welfare Scheme.
He said the payments include outstanding insurance claims that had remained unsettled for several years.
Disu reaffirmed that officers’ welfare remains a top priority, stressing that the Force must show compassion to personnel who make the ultimate sacrifice.
