Filling stations in Abuja have lowered petrol prices following the federal government’s suspension of a planned 15% import duty on petrol and diesel.
On Friday, Ranoil and Empire stations reduced prices to N940 and N949 per litre, down from N955, representing a drop of N6 to N15 per litre.
Chinedu Ukadike, spokesperson for the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, said the suspension has eased concerns over the planned tariff and could lead to further price reductions.

The move also removes the potential advantage Dangote Refinery could have gained in the downstream sector.
Earlier this month, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited reduced its pump price to N945 per litre in Abuja.
Most filling stations in the capital are now selling fuel between N940 and N955 per litre.
