President Bola Tinubu has appointed Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), replacing Is-haq Oloyede, whose second and final tenure ends on July 31, 2026.

Aina’s Educational and Professional Background

Currently a professor of computer engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Aina began his association with JAMB during his National Youth Service, where he gained early experience in admissions administration and data management.

That exposure later influenced his work on examination reforms and system improvement initiatives.

With more than 15 years of professional experience, Aina has built a career at the intersection of technology, public policy and institutional transformation.

He has advised federal and state governments on digital transition, system design and operational reforms.

At 39, he became one of Nigeria’s youngest professors of computer engineering and is set to become the youngest person ever appointed JAMB registrar.

He has also worked with major examination bodies, including the National Examinations Council (NECO), the National Business and Technical Examinations Board and several state ministries of education, providing expertise in ICT systems, examination security and digital process management.

Aina belongs to several professional organisations, including the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

According to Onanuga, President Tinubu expects the new registrar to deploy his expertise and experience to build on the achievements recorded under Oloyede’s leadership and further strengthen the operations of JAMB.
