The decision comes amid heightened criticism from the White House regarding Somali refugees and migrants in the U.S. The Trump administration previously imposed stricter restrictions on Somali immigration and residency.
This move contrasts with the final year of the Biden administration, when the U.S. provided approximately $770 million in assistance for projects in Somalia.
