The National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kamaldeen Ajibade, has cautioned that the most dangerous members of the party are those who publicly parade themselves as PDP loyalists but secretly align with rival political groups.
Ajibade issued the warning on Monday while featuring on Arise Television’s Morning Show.
When asked about the role of former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and the G5 governors in the party’s defeat during the 2023 general elections, Ajibade said it would be unfair to blame Wike alone.
He explained that the internal crisis went beyond one individual, stressing that the party has since taken steps to restore unity and discipline.
“Your question seems to focus mainly on Wike, without mentioning others. The truth is, the G5 issue was not only about him. The group’s actions contributed to our poor outing in 2023, but discipline is not about one man,” he said.
Ajibade maintained that the party is actively addressing internal indiscipline and pledged that measures are being put in place to ensure accountability and loyalty among members ahead of future elections.
He further noted:
“The most dangerous member of a political party is one who is PDP in the daytime and secretly with another party at night. For Wike, at least his position is clear. The bigger problem is those who pretend to be with us but work against us quietly.”
The PDP legal adviser added that the leadership is determined to enforce party discipline and strengthen internal cohesion as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify.
