The court ruling followed charges filed against him by the Finnish government.

Fagbemi, in a statement, said Ekpa’s conviction confirmed that his actions had contributed to insecurity and violence against Nigerians.

“This conviction is a confirmation that Ekpa influenced and committed heinous crimes against the Nigerian people, especially in the South East,” Fagbemi said.

He commended the Finnish authorities for what he called their support for Nigeria in tackling insecurity, adding that the development signalled stronger collaboration between both countries.

Fagbemi further disclosed that the Federal Government would take appropriate steps after receiving and reviewing the certified copy of the judgement.
