The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested no fewer than 116 suspects, charging 27 to court for offences ranging from possession of illicit drugs to public nuisance, In a sweeping crackdown on drug dens across Abuja.
The week-long raids, which began on August 1, stretched across notorious black spots in Asokoro, Trademore, Mapape, Kurudu, Kubwa, Gwarimpa, Jikwoyi, Utako, Life Camp, Zuba, and Karshi. Operatives of the Command’s Anti-Narcotics Section led the operation, aimed at dismantling criminal hideouts fueling drug abuse and crime in the capital.

Police recovered various illicit substances, hard drugs, and dried leaves suspected to be cannabis during the raids.

After a thorough screening exercise, 89 suspects were released, while the remaining offenders were immediately charged to court.
Commissioner’s Warning to Criminals
Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Ajao S. Adewale, praised the operatives for their vigilance and assured residents that the Command remains committed to ensuring a safe and drug-free Abuja.
“We are determined to clean up the city. Drug abuse and trafficking are major drivers of crime, and we will continue to dismantle these black spots. I urge residents to remain law-abiding, shun drugs, and support our security efforts,” Adewale said.

The FCT Police Command also appealed to residents to share timely information that could help security agencies track criminal elements and sustain the tempo of the ongoing operations.
