Nigeria’s dream at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) came to a crushing end on Tuesday as Sudan dismantled the Super Eagles B team 4–0, exposing tactical and defensive weaknesses that coach Eric Chelle admits were self-inflicted.

In a match that will be remembered for Nigeria’s collapse, Sudan capitalised on costly errors to score through an early own goal by Leonard Ngenge, a strike from Walieldin Khedr, and a brace from Abdel Raouf. The result, combined with last week’s 1–0 loss to Senegal, confirmed Nigeria’s elimination in the group stage.

“Four goals, four mistakes. We did a lot of mistakes in these two games [Senegal and Sudan],” he said, underscoring concerns about focus and discipline.
