Tinubu Ignoring Nigerians’ Plight While Enjoying Comfort Abroad – Kenneth Okonkwo

Veteran Nollywood actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo has accused President Bola Tinubu of neglecting the suffering of Nigerians while vacationing in Paris amid deepening hardship, insecurity, and collapsing public services at home.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Thursday, Okonkwo, who is also a lawyer, described Nigeria as “a country in distress”, citing instability across critical sectors, including education, healthcare, and electricity supply.

“People are dying in Zamfara, people are dying in Katsina, yet the president says he is going on work leave,” he said.

The former Labour Party presidential campaign spokesman warned that the nation’s education and health sectors are on the brink of collapse, with unions threatening strikes and oil contractors still unpaid since 2024. He also lamented rising child malnutrition, saying many families can no longer afford basic healthcare.

“Today, Nigeria has more malnourished children than Sudan. Just recently, a woman lost her child to malaria because she could not afford transport to the hospital. This is the level of suffering Nigerians are enduring,” Okonkwo stated.

He accused Tinubu of being detached from reality, adding, “Any nation where education, healthcare, and infrastructure are collapsing is a country in distress. Yet, in the face of this crisis, the president is vacationing in Paris, wearing the finest suits, and laughing while Nigerians wallow in poverty and pain.”

Okonkwo concluded that Nigerians must be rescued from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general election.
