The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has mocked former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Senate President David Mark, Dino Melaye, and other chieftains who defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declaring that the PDP has grown stronger since their departure.
In a statement issued on Monday by its Director-General, Emmanuel Agbo, the Forum accused the defectors of launching “irresponsible verbal attacks” on the PDP after joining what it described as a “one-chance vehicle.”
According to the governors, the exit of Atiku and others not only brought stability but also allowed the party to consolidate and focus on its objectives.
“Since their exit, the PDP has become much more formidable and focused, with clear determination to have our eyes on the ball,” the Forum said.

The statement further likened the defectors to the Biblical prodigal son, stressing that while they caused disruption while in the party, their absence had restored peace.
“The ADC, with their inordinate sense of entitlement, constituted a huge clog to the wheel of national unity and harmony. That they could not see the gravity of the nation’s security challenges is not surprising after all, the prodigal son was never known to show pity for his father’s fortune,” the Forum added.
Despite the harsh words, the PDP governors noted that the party’s doors remained open to any repentant defectors willing to return in humility.
Atiku, Mark, Melaye, and several others recently dumped the PDP for the ADC, the platform now serving as the backbone of the opposition coalition.
