Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has revealed that he has abandoned his presidential ambition to support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) decision to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South.
Mohammed, who is also the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, told journalists on Tuesday that he fully supported the move, stressing that it was a collective decision taken by the party’s leadership.
“I’m very satisfied with the resolution because I was part of it – from the arrangement, strategy, and delivery,” the governor said.

According to him, the decision to hold the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Ibadan, Oyo State, and maintain the existing zoning formula was aimed at ensuring unity and fairness within the party.
Call for Sacrifice and Unity
Mohammed emphasised that politics should not be driven by personal ambition but by sacrifice and commitment to national development.
“Politics is not about personal interest. It is about self-actualisation within the framework of party decisions, manifestos, and national development. Everything is predicated on sacrifice, not interest. Power comes from God,” he added.
The governor assured that PDP leaders, including the National Working Committee (NWC) and Board of Trustees (BoT), remain committed to repositioning the party as the preferred choice for Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
