Senate Confirms 64 Career and Non-Career Ambassadorial Appointments

The Nigerian Senate has approved a total of 64 nominees for both career and non-career ambassadorial positions following a review of a report submitted by its Committee on Foreign Affairs.

The approval came after the committee’s findings were presented by its chairman, Senator Sani Bello, and subsequently adopted by lawmakers during plenary.

Zamfara State Representation Raises Concerns

During the deliberations, Senator Sahabi Yau raised concerns over the absence of any nominee from Zamfara State on the approved list.

He urged the Senate to formally bring the omission to the attention of the President.

Senate President Responds

Responding to the concern, the Senate President acknowledged the observation, noting that the current list before the chamber was not exhaustive.

He assured lawmakers that the matter would be communicated to the President and confirmed that additional ambassadorial nominees are expected.
