Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State have called on former Governor Sule Lamido to consider joining another political party, citing the worsening internal crisis within the PDP.
The call was contained in a communiqué issued after a meeting held at the PDP state secretariat in Dutse.
The document, signed by the state chairman, Hon. Ali Idris Diginsa, was made available to journalists on Tuesday.
The stakeholders expressed concern over what they described as the deepening crisis in the party and the inability of its leadership to resolve long-standing disagreements.

They accused the PDP national leadership of sidelining Lamido and blocking him from contesting for the position of national chairman for reasons they said were not explained.
‘Party losing grip due to divisions’
The forum condemned recent developments within the party, referring to the confrontation between Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, at the PDP national secretariat.
According to the group, the incident further exposed the party’s “weaknesses and shame.”
“The PDP is no longer a formidable national platform due to persistent divisions, distrust, and unending rancour among its members,” the communiqué stated.
Stakeholders pledge loyalty
Despite their criticism of the party, the stakeholders reaffirmed their loyalty to Lamido, pledging to stand by him in whatever political decision he takes.

They also noted that Lamido remains the only surviving member of the historic G9 and G18 reform groups who has never abandoned the PDP, even during the height of the Buhari political wave in the North.
‘Seek a viable platform’
The forum urged the former governor to consider a “viable political platform” that would enable his supporters to pursue the vision of “a greater Jigawa and Nigeria.”
“We urge our leader to seek a platform that will allow his followers to continue the struggle for progress and development,” the statement added.
