The former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has stated that the upcoming February 21 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council elections will reveal how prepared Nigerians are to remove the All Progressives Congress (APC) from power.
Speaking on Thursday in Gwarinpa, Atiku, alongside leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), including former presidential candidate Peter Obi, urged voters to support ADC candidates across all FCT councils.

Atiku, who was the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023 election said the elections will not only test the capacity of electoral managers to deliver free and fair polls but also gauge citizens’ readiness to reject the APC.
He called on voters to turn out in large numbers and defy intimidation, emphasizing that ADC candidates possess the competence, character, and capacity to provide quality leadership at the local level.

He criticised the APC-led federal government under Bola Tinubu for failing on key national issues, including the economy, education, security, and poverty alleviation, adding that the upcoming FCT elections should mark the start of efforts to vote the party out.
“The APC-led Federal Government under Bola Tinubu has failed citizens on many fronts. It has failed to fix the economy. It has failed to fix our education. It has failed to keep our country safe. It has pushed the citizens of a rich nation into deeper poverty. It has allowed criminal elements to hold citizens to ransom.
“APC must be voted out in the coming elections, and we should start with the FCT elections!,” he concluded
