The Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, Ondo State, on Thursday affirmed the election of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the duly elected governor of the state.
A three-man panel of justices unanimously dismissed the separate appeals filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied People’s Movement (APM), and the Social Democratic Party (SDP), challenging the earlier ruling of the Ondo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.
Delivering the lead judgement, Justice Nimpar Yargata declared that all four appeals lacked merit and failed to establish credible evidence of non-compliance with the Electoral Act.
The court ruled that the petitioners could not substantiate their allegations of irregularities in the conduct of the November 16, 2024, election.
With this ruling, the appellate court upheld the decision of the tribunal delivered on June 4 and reaffirmed the victory of Aiyedatiwa and the APC in the Ondo governorship poll.
